Die - Intaglio - 1855 rejected 2d Perkins Bacon intaglio die with uncleared background, engraved on steel, defaced by vertical lines. South Australia. Stone: 'Rejected die 27th December 1853: 'Engraving Postage Stamp South Australia twopence' In addition to the blemishes on nose and forehead the nose is indented in an unsightly manner. There is also a fine line through the left side of the 'O' of 'Twopence'.'
