The introduction and uses of postal markings as issued to Railway Stations from the earliest recorded undated mark in the world: the MISSENT TO/DERBY R.O of Boxing Day 1840 and the worlds earliest dated railway station cancel of Gloucester station of the 18th March 1842 right up to 2015. In the display which will cover the 175 years to 2015, there will be examples of all convention postal markings from undated and dated double arc cancels, numerals, duplexes, squared circles, including the unique NORMANTON STATION, single and double ring cancels, travellers and skeletons, rubbers, straight-line marks, postage due marks, instructional marks, missent marks, parcel post labels and cancels, registered mail, railway letter stamps and much more. Every sheet will have “something added” and the condition of the exhibits is of “exhibition quality” with many unique and less common markings and usages.
