Great Britain. Stone: ' 'One Penny' Trial Die inscribed 'DE LA RUE'. Of steel, it was made as an experiment to see if the intaglio style of portrait (King Edward VII) engraving could be adapted to the en epargne technique. The die shows that it could not!'
