Title:
Lot 11 EARLY SHIP LETTER SENT "P. THE SALSBURY GALLY"; 23rd Aug. 1710 EL from the same correspondence as the previous lot, to London (contents ref. Clarendon estates, "negroes", small-pox, etc.) with a m/s "3" charge on the front and a fair "NO/22" London arrival Bishop Mark on the reverse. Sent prior to the demise of the Dummer Packet service and obviously much cheaper than the packet rate. Presumably 1d captain's gratuity + 2d inland (up to 80 miles; probably ex Deal/Dover). PHOTO
