Lot 146 THE RARE BLACK "PAID." OF MORANT BAY (PD11); 17th Sept. 1841 EL from Morant Bay (near fine black c.d.s. on reverse) to Liverpool, G.B., with a lovely strike of the rare handstruck "PAID." mark beside a m/s "4" (inland postage to Kingston) on the front, subsequently crossed out (as usual) with the British "1/-" charge alongside. Also endorsed "Cannot be found. J.C." but apparently delivered nonetheless. Very rare; this is the only example recorded by Foster who classified it as "Unique"
