Lot 15 THE EARLIEST KNOWN HANDSTRUCK POSTAL MARKING OF JAMAICA - THE PREVIOUSLY UNRECORDED TYPE OF "JAMAICA"; 12th Aug. 1746 EL from "Jamaica" to London "per ye Snaper", with m/s "1N6" charge (the 1745 single packet rate), having a mostly v. fine strike of a "JAMAICA" mark with the tail of the "J" NOT EXTENDING BELOW the line of the other letters (i.e. different from Foster's J1). This is the earliest date recorded by Foster (and the other three examples recorded so far are dated from Jan. 17
