Lot 168 THE UNRECORDED "MORE-TO-PAY" (D1) IN RARE RED INK; Unsual 8th Jan. 1844 EL from Kingston to Scotland with m/s "Pd.4" and a v. fine red "MORE-TO-PAY" in orange-red (matching a fine "JAMAICA/PAID" c.d.s.) on the front. Foster recorded this mark from the P.O. Proof-books, but he had never seen an example on cover. Two or three examples in black have now been recorded but we are not aware of any others in red. Rare.
