Lot 43 "MONTEGO/BAY" (T1) ON INCOMING LETTER FROM NEW YORK; 12th Sept. 1782 EL (folds just clear of postmark) from "New York" (contents mention British P.O.W.'s; "..my having been appointed to carry Cloathing & Stores for the British prisoners in Pennsylvania.") to "Kingston, Jamaica". Carried privately to the island and posted there, with a v. fine (for this) "MONTEGO/BAY" across the join on the reverse and a red m/s "1/3" on the front. Rare thus. PHOTO
