MARKING; 12th Dec. 1814 fine internal EL from "Welton, Runaway Bay" to "Pemberton Valley, Salt Gut, St. Mary's", endorsed "Post" by the sender, with a spectacular m/s "Runaway Bay" endorsement on the reverse in a very different hand, matching the "7d" charge on the front. Not recorded by Foster (who lists no marks for this P.O. prior to 1827, although the office is recorded from at least 1796) and very attractive. Rare thus. PHOTO
