Lot 66 THE UNRECORDED "SPANISH TOWN/JA/*13 DECR 1819*" DATESTAMP; Remarkable and pristine 13th Dec. 1819 EL from "Spanish Town" to "Robertsfield, Port Royal" with a m/s "1" charge on the front and a mostly very fine strike of this extraordinary dated "JA" mark on the reverse. No other example has yet been recorded, and no other dated Jamaican marks were used outside Kingston prior to 1835. Presumably this mark was introduced by the local Postmaster and was soon discarded. An important additio
