Lot 743 THE 1907 EARTHQUAKE - BOXED "RETURNED FOR/POSTAGE" MARK AND PPC'S; Intriguing Jan. (?) 1907 unstamped front to Kingston (ex Astley Clerk) with a v. fine strike of this rare mark with a piece of the addressee's original album page with the note "during & after (How long?) 1907 Earthquake". Clearly this mark had a brief emergency period of use. No other example has yet been recorded. Also a 23rd March 1907 usage of the KEVII p. stat. PC to G.B. ex Kingston with mention of the earthquake
