Lot 766 PRUSSIA VIA LONDON; Fully prepaid stampless 18th April 1874 env. (wear at top but attractive) from Berlin to a Major with the 97th Regiment at Newcastle, Jamaica, weighed as "16gr." at top left (=just over the single oz rate), with a variety of red m/s rates on the front. The latter indicate prepayment of "23" (in Silber Groschen = 2s-4d), the credit of "1/10" (double the theoretical British rate of 11d to Jamaica) for Britain and "2d" for Jamaica. Very rare and unusual rates & route.
