Lot 84 RARE EXCEPTIONAL LATE USAGE OF THE OVAL "Ship Letter/CROWN/JAMAICA"; Aug. 1859 env. (stains clear of markings affect address) to "Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies" with a v. fine strike of the SL1 oval (no less than 43 years later than recorded by Foster !) on the front with a m/s "4" changed to "1/-". Possibly from America but seemingly landed at Savannah-la-Mar (30th Aug. & 1st Sept. c.d.s.'s on reverse; latter with "1856" error and "AP" changed to "SP" in manuscript). Only two example
