The shield features a central metal plaque with engraving: 'ASHFORD (KENT) PHILATELIC SOCIETY/CORONATION/CHALLENGE CUP/PRESENTED BY THE COMMITTEE/1953'. The shield accommodates twenty-two metal side shields with engraved years and names of the Cup's winners dating from 1952 to 1976. Two metal eye hooks at the back.
