Art Nouveau Stamp Album
Art Nouveau Stamp Album
Listen to audio.
The cover of this stamp album is in the Art Nouveau style. Art Nouveau was an international style in the visual arts popular from the 1890s up to the First World War. Its influence can be found in architecture, painting, sculpture, jewellery, metalwork, glass and ceramics. Inspiration was taken from the natural world and symbolism. It is characterised by sinuous curvy lines, stylised flowers, leaves, roots, buds and seedpods. The album does not have a publication date, but judging by the stamps placed in the album it was produced in the early 1890s. The stamps in the album are from countries, regions and cities all over the world. The collections give a picture of the political geography of the world at the end of the 19th century.
