The sender, the Swede Lieutenant-Colonel Ivar Thord-Gray (original Ivar Thord Hallström) served in the Northumberland-fusiliers Regiment and was probably the volunteer who had been in most different armies, reached the highest military rank of all, US and Russian (Koltjak´s Army) Major-General and British Colonel.
