When it was decided to revert to the small format design for the 3d value, a new duty plate had to be made as
the Victorian one had been destroyed. The original 3d master die from 1896 was still available and was used
for the new plate. On 6 April 1922 both BEFORE STRIKING and AFTER STRIKING proofs were taken.
Plates used: 10, 11, 16, 18 & 21
Seven printings from 1922 to 1930
20 July 1923 - Die II 3d used on internal letter from Sembehun to Freetown.
Rate 2d for first ounce, plus 1d per extra half ounce. Registration fee 3d paid by stationery envelope.
