The Silver Jubilee of King George V’s accession to the throne was marked by 43 colonies producing between
them 172 stamps of a similar design. The work was shared between several printers with Bradbury Wilkinson
being allocated the Sierra Leone stamps. The stamps were issued on 6 May 1935 and withdrawn at the end
of the year.

Bradbury Wilkinson numbered the vignette plates 1 to 6, with each having two panes. Philatelists have numbered
these differently 1 to 12, which can cause confusion. BW Vignette Plates 1, 2, 3 and 4 were used for the stamps
sent with the first dispatch, and BW Vignette Plates 5 and 6 for the remaining smaller print runs. References to
plate numbers in this section are to the numbers allocated by the collecting community.
