Air Mail Services
French Service between Dakar and Toulouse
The first regular air mail service between Europe and West Africa was introduced by the French in 1925. Mail
was accepted by the British post office from 26 March 1926, and its use for north-bound mail from Sierra
Leone was announced in The Sierra Leone Royal Gazette by an announcement dated 16 December 1926.
Mail from Freetown was transported by sea to Dakar.
