Aberdeen Aberdeen
The post office at the coastal village of Aberdeen opened on 1 March 1926; it
was still open at independence on 27 April 1961. Aberdeen is situated on the
Atlantic coast, less than five miles west of Freetown, on the north-west tip of the
colony. The settlement was named after the 4th Earl of Aberdeen, the British
foreign secretary at the time of its founding in 1829.
