Although not at all a militaristic movement, the Boy Scout unifonn resembles many
features of military unifonns. Baden-Powell assured that the Boy Scouts had 'no
military tendency whatever', nevertheless he was allowing individual Scoutmasters
to detennine the extent to which their boys took part in military style activities.
Gennan Boy Scouts, together with other youth organisations, participated in the
celebration of the Centenary for the 1813 Katzbach battle, where the Prussians
under General Bliicher defeated Napoleon's forces under Marshal MacDonald.
