stars tied by the.numeral cancel 771 ofVentnor, Isle of Wight
on 8th November 1862. Alongside is the unframed instructional
MISSENT TO/SOUTHAMPTON STATION in black ink.
This mark is only recorded on mail miss-sorted onto the wrong
ferry or boat at Cowes. Mail was routinely routed via
Portsmouth at this time
