Page 12 - Gustaf Douglas: Classic Sweden
P. 12
Prologue
Among the younger generation we have Richard
Bodin with one of the most attractive collections, in a
captivating way telling the history of Swedish military
persons in wars and campaigns on foreign soil.
My respect for those who open new aspects honestly
grows with every exhibition. Of course Kersti and
Bertil Larssons’ RDP, FRPSL exhibits has given me a
lot of knowledge, but also inspired me in the way to
present knowledge (Larssons’ exhibit) and how to “tell
the story” (Bodin’s exhibit).
In my collection there are many items that are “items
of significance” identified by other collectors having The XpoNAT‐series (available in the RPSL library),
sold their collections – often to penetrate new areas or published by the Swedish Philatelic Federation (2007‐
concentrate and focus. My collection owes gratitude 2010), presents concurrent and ”best formed” exhibits
and respect to several of these collectors. This needs dealing with Swedish philately and postal history.
also to be mentioned here. Kersti and Bertil Larssons’ exhibits have given Gustaf a
lot of inspiration.
Gustaf Douglas is impressed of today’s active philatelists in Sweden, he says: ”When I came back to collecting
”Classic Sweden”, I was immediately taken by the improvement in knowledge that had taken place in my absence
from philately”. ”Team Sweden’s” Display at the ”No. 41” on 5 February 2009 proved this indeed, and many of the
philatelists Gustaf mentions participated. From right: Jonas Hällström FRPSL, Gustaf Douglas, Björn Sohrne
