Fakes by Sperati
Jean de Sperati, printer and engraver by profession, earned the title “the Rubens of Philately”. His first attempts
to copy stamps went extraordinary well and he continued to produce numerous further reproductions of
valuable stamps from all over the world. He produced fakes of the first issue from Sweden: 3 Skilling Banco green
and yellow and 24 Skilling Banco (and also the 17 Öre Lying Lion Type in the grey shade).
