ARCUEIL
A new mechanised sorting office was established at Arcueil, on the outskirts of Paris, in the
departement of Val-de-Marne. It operated from 31 January 1971 with a suite of thirty-five
coding desks and used the P.L.M. language until 31 July 1973. Coding desks N° 1 to 20 were used
for treating plis non urgents (second class mail) and N° 21 to 30 for bulk Cheques Postaux
mailings. Coding desks N° 31 to 35 were linked to a pre-sorting operation which was rarely used.
