Contemporary World Wide Swedish Navy Operations (WWI - WWII)... Swedish warships with their Swedish Navy service period in this section: HMS Gladan (1857-1924) Gladan was built 1857 at the Naval Shipyard in Karlskrona as a brig for freight transports. In 1881 changed to sail training ship. She was 28,4 m. long, 8,1 m. wide and weight was 310 ton. Armed with two smaller cannons. Normal crew size: 61 men. HMS Svensksund (1891-1957) Svensksund was built at Kockums shipyard in Malmö as a gunboat. She was 40 m. long, 7,8 m. wide and weight was 274 ton. Armed with 4 57 mm canons. Normal crew size: 46 men. HMS Najaden (1897-1938) Najaden was built at the Naval Shipyard in Karlskrona as a three-masted full rigged sail training ship. She was 48,8 m. long, 8,4 m. wide and weight was 350 ton. Normal crew size: 120 men. HMS Thor (1899-1937) Thor was built at Bergsunds shipyard in Stockholm as Pansarskepp (pre-Dreadnought armoured ship). She was 86 m. long, 14,8 m. wide and weight was 3328 ton. Armed with 18 cannons, from 254 mm to 57 mm, six machine guns and 1 torpedo tube. Normal crew size: 240 men.
