Swedish naval visits established Swedish trade and new military friendships in Europe, South America, Asia, Oceania and West Indies 1860-1897 HMS Gefle (1848-1890) Gefle was built at the Naval Shipping Yard in Karlskrona as a steam corvette. Sweden’s first propeller-powered warship and one of the first in the world. She was 52,5 m. long, 9,8 m. wide and the weight was 1278 ton. Armed with 10 cannons. Normal crew size: 169 men. HMS Norrköping (1858-1902) Norrköping was built at the Naval Shipping Yard in Karlskrona as a frigate and converted to a corvette in 1866. She was 45,5 m. long, 12,2 m. wide, weight 1439 ton and 1661 sq.m. sail area. Armed with 34 cannons. HMS Vanadis (1862-1893) Vanadis was built at the Naval Shipping Yard in Karlskrona as a steam frigate. She was 64 m. long, 12,8 m. Wide, weight was 2138 ton and 1643 sq.m. sail area. Armed with 18 cannons after 1874. Normal crew size: 316 men. HMS Vanadis passing the Jaluit Island (nearby Marshall Islands) 1884 on its round-the-world voyage. HMS Balder (1870-1901) Balder was built at the Naval Shipping Yard in Karlskrona as a steam corvette. She was 62 m. long, 11,5 m. wide and the weight was 1873 ton. Armed with 8 cannons. Normal crew size: 218 men.
