The George VI Definitives 1938 to 1955

Recess Printed by Waterlow
Multiple Script CA Watermark, Sideways. Perf 12½.

The artist was limited in the design and the colours of the stamps but greatly helped by the omission of the
words POSTAGE & REVENUE, the first time for Sierra Leone. The requirement to have a diamond shaped
surround to the King’s portrait does perhaps upset the balance of the design.
