SPECIMEN Perforations by Waterlows
The initial values of this series were produced over several weeks, with the SPECIMEN perforated stamps
being created as soon as possible for each value as it was first printed. There was a single Type W8 SPECIMEN
die available in 1938, and this suffered damage over the few weeks in question as the stamps have a varied
number of broken pins. The number of broken pins provides a sequence which matches the put-to-press dates.
