The George VI Definitives 1938 to 1955

One border plate and three vignette plates were used between 4 May 1938 and 7 July 1955. The earliest border
and vignettes plates had no number in the margin, but are known as Plate (1).

Of all of the printings Waterlows undertook for Sierra Leone, only one cannot be definitely assigned to a
particular plate. Requisition 3038/1 of 1 September 1943 could have been printed from Vignette Plate 2 or 3;
the number of sheets printed has been split evenly between the two totals given above.
