The Government printers in Freetown produced 100 sheets on 18 January 1893 and a further 113 sheets a
week later. Of these, 205 sheets were printed on Crown CA watermarked paper.

The words ‘HALF / PENNY’ and the black line were printed in separate operations. A few sheets had the
wording printed inverted; others had the cancelling line inverted; some had both inverted. Where the black
line was misplaced, the old value can occasionally be found obliterated by hand.

Probably just one sheet received a double overprint. The example below is the only one that has received a
genuine certificate. A detailed analysis of the overprint forme has demonstrated that this stamp bears strikes
of the overprint normally received by Row 3 Stamp 2 and also Row 4 Stamp 2.
