Consular Handstamps

Erich Benjamin Richter was born on 17 October 1898. In the late 1950s he
travelled extensively to all parts of the world, including Sierra Leone. His
passport shows that he visited the following countries:

Australia, Belgian Congo, Belgium, Canada, Canary Islands, France,
India, Indonesia, Italy, Liberia, New Zealand, Portugal, Sierra Leone,
Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.

Entry into Sierra Leone required a visa to be granted prior to travel by the British
Consulate General in Stuttgart. There was a fee of £1 2s 6d for this service, which
resulted in George VI Foreign Service revenue stamps (Barefoot No. 4 & 13) being
inserted in the passport.
