A bob is slang for a shillin g. The starting date for the first ' Bob-a-Job Week' was 18 April, 1949.
The basic idea was that during that week every Scout, from Cub to Chi ef Scout, should earn at
least one shilling for Headquarters. Anyth in g over thi s sum cou ld be reta ined for local use.
