Scouting Around the World                                                    Finland

Scouting was founded in Finland in 1910 as part of tsarist Russia, registered with the central
organizat ion of the tsarist Russian Scout movement PyccK11H CKayr. Finnish Sco utin g was among the
charter members of the World Organization of the Sco ut Movement in 1922. Guiding started in 19 10
and was among the fou nding members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. In 1972
the Girl Guide Association and the Boy Scout Assoc iation merged and formed Suomen Pa11iolaiset.
