Scoutina Overseas
Scouting or the Scout Movement is a movement that aims to support young people in
their physical , mental and spiritual development, that they may play constructive roles in
society, with a strong focus on the outdoors and survival skills. The Scouting Movements
have over 50 million Scouts and Guides participating. There are only six independent
countries in the world where Scouting does not exist; in some it would not be allowed.
The scope of this exhibit is to show the philately of Scouting and Guiding outside
Europe up to 1957, which represents the golden anniversary of Scouting and the
centenary of the bi1th of Baden-Powell. Focus is on showing Scout related postal history;
in particular commercially used items including registered mail.
