Apple Day began in 1932 in Sa int John, N.B. , when 21 ,000 a pples were ha nded out as a way for Scouting
to say tha nk you to the community. As a result, donations were made to Scouts in return fo r rece iving an
a ppl e. S ince th e n, eac h Octobe r, Scouts have hit th e com mun ity to ra ise fu nds for th eir programs.

Slogan postmarks were used in Toronto, O nt. in 1937, 1938 and 1939 to promote Apple Day.
