In 192 1, Prince Hirohito took a six
month tour of Europe, becoming the
first Japanese crown prince to travel
abroad. He visited Great Britain,
experienced Scoutin g first hand and
expressed the hope that Scouting
would deve lop full y in Japan and j oin
the world movement. The forerunn er
of th e " Boy Scouts of Japan" was
fo unded the same year.

badge hand stamp on front and reverse.
