33 die as B.O.A.C.'s plane from Sydney for U.K. crashes in Singapore
British airline B.0.A.C. operated a ro ute between Australia and U.K. usin g Lockheed 749 Conste llation
aircraft. On 13 March 1954 during land ing at Si ngapore, the " Belfast" coming from Sydn ey, Darwin
and Djakarta crashed on the landing strip of Kallang airport and caught fire . 32 passengers and one
ere\ member were killed. A large part of the mail was recovered and a cachet was applied.
