A most unusual handstamp, in one line showing the new currency in brackets between broken
bars, is found on Service stamps only from this Treasury. Height of figures and P, 3 mm, Length
of Paisa, 20 mm. A second type, with "p" of"paisa" in lower case is found on the 2 Paisa /3 Pies
value only. Mostly struck in shades of purple ink. two values are recorded handstamped in red,
and puce, almost black surcharges .are occasiona11y encountered.
Postmarks recorded, mostly between January and May 1961, include Mardan, Swabi, Dargai,
Camp POL and Saidu Sharif.
Overprint in red.
Doubleday has speculated that this handstamp, found only on 25 and 50 Paisa values, was an
early experiment, quickly discontinued.
