A rather tragic cover, but an important one nonetheless. The MIS SENT
TO/DERBY R.O struck in red ink is the Worlds earliest recorded UNDATED
railway cancel; struck on Boxing Day 1840 on the front of a prepaid entire
addressed to Glossop from Howden. Unfortunately, the ld black adhesive has
been removed!!
Known period of use: 26.12.1840 only in red ink
