Cover addressed to Dublin with the 1 d red stars tied by
the numeral cancel for Athenry Town. On the back is
the straight-line cancel RAILWAY STATION
alongside the dated double arc cancel of ATHENRY
dated 22nd January 1858.
To date, just two examples of this mark have been
recorded over an eighteen-month period
Only two railway stations in Ireland had this or a
similar mark; Galway Station having a straight-line
cancel which simply reads "RAILWAY"
Known period of use: 3.6.1856 to 22.1.1858
