1888 Strip of Three
As shown above there are several shades of orange, which are quite different from the dull
orange, as will be shown shortly. What is quite remarkable is the consistency of the printings,
which differ from the earlier 1 anna and two annas printings. Perhaps this is a result of better
management for these higher value stamps and, perhaps also of preparations for the printings
of the second issues due in 1895. The strip above is remarkable although there is still a problem
with spacing between clichés.
Shown on the previous sheet are a “pale” orange resulting from a weaker printing than the
above and a transitional shade between the orange grouping and the yellow grouping.
