Leeds Special Maltese Cross. Leeds to Manchester. "LEEDS MR 8 1841" datestamp on the
reverse. Leeds used five different Maltese Crosses, two of which are distinctive, including
the Leeds Special with the very rounded and marked cove-like outer loops. This Maltese
Cross has reported uses from September 1840 to November 1842. Plate 10 adhesive.

Leeds Type 1 Maltese Cross. Leeds to Hartlepool. "LEEDS AP 21 1842" datestamp on the reverse.
The Leeds Type 1 cross is a “normal” common cross with short diamond points. This Maltese
Cross has reported uses from May 1840 to February 1844. Plate 22 adhesive.
