FRAME 35 SWEDEN 1874-1895 THE OFFICIAL STAMPS LARGE SIZE
12 Öre (Perf. 13) Dull light blue [1882]
Mixed frankings involving official stamps and definitive stamps are very rare. The reason for this mixed franking
was probably shortage of official stamps available. Matters concerning registry or property changing hands, were
important and urgent. Possibly a sense of urgency made it worthwhile to pay the full rate with a definitive stamp
to win a day or two?
Second inland letter rate, 24 Öre, from ÖSTERSUND 29.3.1884, 12 Öre + 12 Öre Circle Type perforation 13 = 24 Öre.
10 Öre (Perf. 13) Dull carmine [1885]
First day usage
In order to provide for the changed first inland letter rate which was decreased from 12 öre to 10 Öre from
1 January 1885, the 10 Öre value (perforation 13) was released, Sweden also went into the decimal system.
