B. Plate Varieties Short Transfers
Short transfer - This variety occurs when the transfer roll relief is not fully rocked when entered on the plate. As a result,
there is a weak depth of impression at the top shown by the lightening of the background and the words "POST OFFICE".
Position 63L Positions 85-86L The left stamp fully entered, the center stamp
Position 85 has the short transfer. weak at top and the right short transferred.
Position 31L - Short transfer at top
and ink smudge between the eyes. e
