The Royal Sw. Post Office From the Sw. commanding officer of the Sw. Army at Board circular Jun. 16, 1848 told that there was only Fyn to the field doctor at the Scanian Army Corps. exchange of normal letters with or without included money. The Sw. FPO was open Jun.-Sep. 1848. Field postmaster was captain J. Åke Nordenfelt. Field Post, Slesvig-Sweden... ...with notation ”Fribref” (=Free-letter), dated Dec. 20, 1849 at Apenrade, to Bårslöf, Helsingborg. Accordingly to a Sw. postal circular Jan. 1807 could each private and non– commissioned officer send a free letter / month from the Sw. FPO to home, during wartime. It was also applied in peacetime if being away from home barracks. The letter was left open with the soldiers name, nr and unit nr on it (Lars Nilsson, 60, 6 comp). Only known one letter free / month from any Swedish force ! Privates couldn't often No FPO exist so the mail was handled by the write. They asked offi- field accountant C. E.
