One Penny Value in Violet
A postal rate change on 1 January 1924 necessitated the colour of the 1d stamp to be changed so that internal
mail could be readily distinguished from UK and Commonwealth mail. These violet stamps were printed
from plates from both Die I and Die II, although always on the Multiple Script CA watermark.
