The George V Keyplate 1912 to 1931

Ninepence Value
A new colony name subsidiary die was made, with wider letters ‘O’ and ‘R’ than the Victorian die it replaced.
No common postal rate existed in 1912 that needed a 9d stamp, making non-philatelic uses difficult to find.

	 Proof of duty plate Plates used: 1a, 1b, 6 & 10
Four printings from 1912 to 1922

5 November 1912 - Receipt for parcel posted at Freetown.
Earliest recorded use of a 9d stamp, just six weeks after the despatch on 27 September 1912.
