The first print run of 1d stamps was undertaken from Border Plate (1) and Vignette Plate (1) on 5 April 1938.
This was a long print run of 25,814 sheets. The next 1d printing wasn’t until 26 September 1939, so any dated
examples prior to this date clearly must be from the first printing.

20 September 1945. The biggest usage of the 1d value was as a make-up value. This letter addressed to England was initially paid
with a single 2d adhesive on the front (cancelled 20 Sep) which underpaid the 3d rate. A further 1d adhesive was added on the back
which was postmarked the followung day.
