Elizabeth II Definitive Stamps 1956 to 1961
1956 Sheet Numbers.
Numbers were printed above the top-right stamp of all sheets that were dispatched to Freetown. This was
to assist in accounting and stocktaking. The count of digits in the number, including leading zeroes, can
sometimes identify the printing date.
1½d sheet number 07168 comes from 16 Apr 1958 printing as it was the only one of that value with more than 9,999 sheets.
5s sheet number 004 was printed 27 Feb 1961 as the only 5s print run with fewer than 1,000 sheets.
